Take the first step to university in 2006

University Access through Summer school

Summer School application packs now available for those who want to gain access to university. Now´s your chance to think about applying for the 2006 Summer School which can lead to a full or part-time place on one of the degree courses available in Dumfries with the University of Glasgow or the University of Paisley.

The 2006 Summer School will run from 12th June -14th July 2006 and is available to school leavers and mature students thinking about accessing Business, Arts or Computing degree courses.

This is a free course aimed to give students the opportunity to try out university life and decide if this is something they wish to pursue. It can also be used to boost entry requirements to the degree courses - historically, many summer school students progress onto a full or part-time course with one of the universities on the campus and most students leave with the confidence they need to take on the challenges of university study.

For students who already have the qualifications to study for a degree the summer school has also proved to be a useful induction to what lies ahead and of course a major benefit to anyone who hasn´t studied for quite some time! No entry qualifications are required to apply for the summer school.

Attendance is only required 2 days a week for 4 or 5 weeks and help is available to cover travel, childcare and accommodation costs if required.

Don´t forget if you are a school leaver from Dumfries & Galloway you are entitled to £200/year if you leave school and study for your degree at the Crichton University Campus, Dumfries. Remember to ask about the Crichton: University Scholarship Agreement (CUSA) before you leave school!

The University of Paisley also offers a limited number of undergraduate modules during June, July and August - for more information please call 01387 702075.

Full and part-time courses start in September 2006 for advice on how to apply please call 01387 702075 (University of Paisley) or 01387 702001 (university of Glasgow).
